SM/DJ8MS - August/September 2005
Here are some comments on my tour regarding radio activity...
The conditions seemed to be quite badaround 18utc, only rare reflections. It's been much better in the afternoon, but generally only very few stations were qrv during workdays.
It's been quite difficult to find some stations for Tropo, always depended on several minutes long calling by me, which decreased battery status.
I recognized mainly good MS operating by the callers giving respect to actual QSOs, the only exception have been DH1HC who called me for nearly half an hour on tropo during MS-QSOs. Thanks for QRM - NO QSO with you ! Not that heavily disturbing, but nevertheless not really fair have been F5JNX, calling quite continously for me, when I've been in JO96 and JO87.
On august 31st I suffered in JO86 the darkness, when the sun dropped the street lights were switched on, unfortunately they prodruced a steady QRN-like noise up to S9. That's why I've been heavily deaf during last part of the aurora opening. Anyway mainly very strong signals up to 59+a have been heard at qtf 300-330 degrees.
The same effect have been on september 1st when I've been in JO87kb, unfortunately especially into south direction have been the village Sandik with lot's of street lights, producing S5 noise when beaming there.
It's been lot's of fun taking part in the IARU VHV Contest on september 4th... there still have been the stable high preasure area with provided nice tropo conditions into nearly all directions, but main activity have been in western central europe.
The most amazing fact was, I've been called by M8C from IO91 which means a distance of 1284km.
All QSOs will be confirmed by QSL via club / bureau... QSLs sent to me by post without back postage will generally be returned via club.
